A Challenge to our Newburyport City Councilors
January 23rd, 2012It’s been my experience that folks have a visceral and for the most part almost immediate reaction to the idea of a Local Historic District (LHD) for Newburyport. My challenge to our Newburyport City Councilors would be this, when folks come up to you in the street or wherever, party, place you are trying to have a cup of coffee, you get the idea, and they tell you that they are either “against” or “for” Newburyport’s proposed Local Historic District (LHD), ask them what they like or do not like about the proposed ordinance. It would be my guess that most folks haven’t read the ordinance and may not know much about it, and that would lead to the beginning of a conversation, that might end up creating a more careful evaluation.
